Worker dies at Mowi Chile salmon farm in Chonchi

A worker died on Tuesday night at a Mowi Chile salmon farming facility in Chonchi, located in the Los Lagos region. The incident occurred around 11:00 PM while the individual was performing cleaning and maintenance tasks involving chemical products.

Following a report of a missing person, firefighters and police conducted a search and discovered the worker inside a pool within the reproduction, genetics, and biofilter area. Authorities confirmed the individual had passed away at the scene.

The Public Ministry has ordered investigations and forensic examinations, including an autopsy to be conducted in Puerto Montt, to determine the exact circumstances of the fall. Mowi Chile issued a statement confirming the death and noting that emergency protocols were activated.
