Worker dies following accident at FreightCar America plant

A 47-year-old worker, Alberto Tijerina Jiménez, died following an accident at the FreightCar America plant in Castaños, Coahuila. The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Monday when the employee, who worked in the railroad car axle department, suffered a severe crushing injury to his abdomen, lumbosacral, and pelvic regions.

Jiménez was transported to the IMSS Clinic 7 in Monclova, where medical staff attempted to stabilize him through intubation and external fixation. Despite these efforts, he passed away at 11:40 p.m. due to hypovolemic shock. Everardo Lazo Chapa, the delegate of the State Attorney General's Office for the Central Region, stated that authorities are conducting investigations to determine if the death was accidental, which would trigger labor law interventions to support the family.
