Worker dies from suspected electric shock at Brazilian pizzeria
A 24-year-old woman, Kelly Aparecida Magalhães Alves, died following a suspected electric shock while working at a pizzeria in Santa Cruz das Palmeiras.
The incident occurred during the early hours of Saturday, August 15, while the victim was cleaning an electric oven. According to a police report, the establishment owner stated that the floor was wet at the time of the accident. The owner reported that the victim cried out and fell while cleaning the interior of the equipment; he also noted feeling a slight electric discharge when attempting to assist her.
Emergency medical services (Samu) performed resuscitation attempts on-site, but the victim could not be revived. The Scientific Police conducted a technical examination of the scene, and the Civil Police have opened an inquiry to investigate the causes of death and the workplace safety conditions at the establishment. Alves had been employed at the pizzeria for four years.
