Worker killed by metal structure in Ankara factory

A 24-year-old worker, identified as Danyal Can, died following an industrial accident at a galvanized steel factory in the Kahramankazan district of Ankara, Turkey. The incident occurred on Monday, October 19, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m.

According to reports and surveillance footage, Can was attempting to secure a metal structure by placing a strap or rope around stacked pieces of material. While he was positioned on one of the structures to reach the necessary area, the piece lost stability and collapsed on top of him. Although colleagues attempted to lift the heavy metal to free him and he was rushed to a hospital, he could not be revived.

Authorities have detained three individuals in connection with the incident: the factory manager, the production supervisor, and the foreman. An investigation is currently underway to determine if safety protocols were violated at the facility.
