Worker killed in incident at United Wambo mine in NSW's Hunter Valley

A worker, believed to be a contractor, died after a mobile‑equipment incident at the United Wambo open‑cut coal mine in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales. The mine is operated by Glencore, whose chief executive of the coal business, Peter Sharpe, expressed condolences and said the focus is on supporting the worker’s family and employees. Operations at the site have been suspended and the case referred to the coroner while regulatory authorities investigate.
