Workers in Iran hold protests and strikes over unpaid wages
Workers at the Benro automotive plant in Saveh, a subsidiary of Saipa, have launched a strike due to unpaid wages and insurance issues. Davoud Mirzaei, the executive secretary of the Saveh House of Workers, reported that employees have not received their salaries for the month of Mehr. He also criticized the intermittent suspension of health insurance and noted that Benro workers do not receive the same benefits as those at the Saipa headquarters in Tehran, despite the company's strong sales.
In addition to the automotive strikes, sanitation workers in Tehran gathered in front of the municipality to demand direct employment contracts and job security. Meanwhile, students at the University of Tehran's Faculty of Social Sciences held a sit-in to demand the release of detained students and political prisoners. In Ilam province, women from the Temp Rigan village protested against water shortages, bread scarcity, and unemployment.
