Workers' Party of Turkey protests TMSF fund crisis in Istanbul

The Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP) held a press demonstration in front of the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) headquarters in Şişli, Istanbul, to protest a crisis involving the fund. Protesters displayed banners asking, “Hundreds of thousands lost, where did the billions go?” and chanted slogans demanding accountability from the ruling AKP.

TİP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Furkan Seyhan stated that approximately 500,000 people have been victimized by the fund crisis. Seyhan criticized the management of the state, alleging that individuals with ties to the AKP are operating in a gang-like manner. He specifically cited a conflict of interest involving Akın Gürlek, an AKP MKYK member, and his spouse in regulatory roles.

During the speech, Seyhan also addressed broader social issues, including school safety, rising femicides, and inequality in educational opportunities, contrasting the success of privileged students with the struggles of working-class families.
