Workers' Party withdraws TSE lawsuit to unfreeze R$ 2.3 billion in campaign funds

The Workers' Party (PT) has withdrawn a legal challenge from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) that had frozen approximately R$ 2.3 billion of the 2026 Electoral Fund. The party had contested the calculation used by the Court to determine its share of the resources, arguing that its parliamentary caucus in the Chamber of Deputies should be counted as 69 deputies rather than 68.

The dispute had resulted in the suspension of the distribution of 48% of the Special Campaign Financing Fund (FEFC), affecting all political parties. The PT requested that the TSE homologate the withdrawal and end the process without analyzing the merits, seeking immediate release of the funds to avoid disrupting the electoral calendar. While the party withdrew the specific action, it noted that it has not abandoned its underlying legal interpretation regarding the caucus count.
