Workplace accidents in Czech Republic and Slovakia prompt emergency rescues

Separate workplace accidents involving workers in excavation and machinery have prompted emergency responses and police investigations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

In the Czech Republic, a man born in 1973 was partially buried in an excavation site. Firefighters from Kutná Hora, Křesetice, and Malín performed a complex rescue operation involving specialized engineering tools and climbing equipment. The worker's leg became trapped between a ladder and piping, requiring firefighters to use hydraulic cutters to free him. He was eventually extracted and transported via helicopter to medical services.

In Soblahov, Slovakia, a 43-year-old employee was injured when a piece of work machinery collapsed on him. Local firefighters stabilized the individual until emergency medical services arrived. The Trenčín District Police have launched a criminal investigation into the incident regarding bodily harm, and an inspector from the labor inspectorate has been called to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
