Workplace and housing trends shift toward flexibility
Post-pandemic shifts in work and lifestyle have fundamentally altered residential and commercial real estate preferences. In the residential sector, homebuyers and renters are increasingly prioritizing open floor plans, larger windows, and dedicated home offices to support remote work routines and mental well-being. Features such as improved airflow, natural light, and proximity to green spaces have become highly sought after.
In the commercial sector, the role of the office is evolving from a daily necessity to a purposeful destination. Rather than requiring a desk every day, employees are utilizing office spaces for specific collaborative tasks. According to CBRE’s 2026 European Office Occupier Sentiment Survey, 85% of occupiers cite engagement with colleagues as a primary reason for office attendance, followed by productive workspace (81%) and access to leadership (77%). This shift is driving demand for flexible workspace solutions that allow businesses to scale from coworking desks to private offices as needed.
