Workplace communication survey reveals high rates of misunderstanding
A survey conducted by NEXER Group and Mirai Touch Biz involving 250 employees in Japan reveals that 54.4% of respondents have experienced misunderstandings or insufficient explanations in the workplace.
Among those who reported communication gaps, 55.9% identified reports or instructions between supervisors and subordinates as the primary source of discrepancy, followed by interactions with colleagues (41.2%) and meetings (30.9%).
The study highlights a strong preference for visual aids in professional settings. Approximately 82.4% of participants stated that explanations involving writing or drawing diagrams are more effective than purely oral instructions. Respondents noted that combining auditory and visual information helps reduce errors and improves comprehension by allowing participants to visualize the content.
