Workplace productivity faces challenges from distractions and low engagement

Modern work environments are facing significant challenges regarding productivity and employee engagement. Issues such as digital distractions, poorly planned meetings, and constant notifications act as major time-wasters that disrupt concentration and deep work.

Beyond mere distractions, there is a growing trend of motivational exhaustion and lack of connection to work. Data from the Gallup Engagement Index 2025 indicates that 13 percent of employees have no emotional connection to their employers, a state known as ‘quiet quitting.’

The situation is particularly acute among younger workers. According to the Pronova-BKK ‘Arbeiten 2025’ study, 40 percent of employees under 30 are affected by ‘quiet cracking,’ a precursor to burnout. Additionally, XING reports that nearly 48 percent of Generation Z employees are open to changing jobs, highlighting a structural crisis in modern labor relations.
