AI employment shifts: China sees surge in application and deployment roles
Artificial intelligence is driving significant shifts in global labor markets and consumer behavior. In China, the focus of AI employment is moving from basic research to application development and business efficiency. Data from the Maimai platform indicates that AI application development roles accounted for approximately 61 percent of new AI job offers in new economy sectors during the first seven months of the year. Notably, deployment engineer roles saw a 1,523 percent year-over-year increase, while AI agent development jobs rose by 436 percent and AI product manager roles grew by 121 percent.
In the consumer sector, a study by IFH Media Analytics and Media Central reveals that 79 percent of consumers still search for products without using AI. While 21 percent of consumers use AI for product research, 84 percent of those users verify the AI-generated results through other sources.
Across various professional fields, including architecture, law, and software engineering, experts suggest that AI is acting more as a tool to augment productivity rather than a total replacement for human judgment. However, this transition requires significant changes in education and professional training to ensure workers can effectively integrate these technologies into their workflows.
