Workplace safety concerns rise following deaths in Vallo di Diano
The deaths of two workers, Antonio Simone and Pietro Pellegrino, in the Vallo di Diano region have sparked calls for increased political action regarding workplace safety. The ANPI Vallo di Diano-Tanagro-Alburnia branch stated that such tragedies are a “political and civil defeat” and urged leaders to ensure work remains a place of dignity rather than a site of death. The organization emphasized the need for active memory to prevent these incidents from being forgotten between tragedies.
In a related effort to improve prevention, ANMIL held an event focusing on the emotional and human aspects of occupational safety. Through the presentation of the book “Crimini della sicurezza” by Yuleisy Cruz Lezcano, discussions highlighted that risk perception is influenced by personal experiences and emotions, not just technical knowledge. Experts suggested that using narrative and storytelling in training can help workers understand the human cost of accidents and foster a collective culture of safety.
