Workplace trends shift toward high-end design and hospitality

The evolution of corporate workspaces is increasingly defined by high-end design and enhanced hospitality services to support hybrid and flexible working models.

In Dubai, office fit-outs in hubs like Business Bay and the Dubai Design District are shifting toward environments that prioritize sustainability, ESG performance, and biophilic design. Modern workplace expectations for 2026 include a strategic mix of collaboration and social spaces, moving beyond basic desk setups to improve employee retention and productivity.

Complementing these physical changes, hospitality is becoming a core strategy for return-to-office efforts. Paul Fairhead, CEO of Infuse Hospitality, suggests that while physical design is largely established, the food and beverage component remains underdeveloped. He advocates for a ‘food truck approach’—offering small, high-quality, and varied menus rather than traditional, static corporate cafeterias.

Data indicates a significant trend in workplace dining: ezCater reports that 81% of employees receive free meals at work, while CaterCow notes that 53% of workers have company-catered lunches at least weekly. Experts suggest that successful office amenities must move away from the ‘ghost land’ of empty cafeterias toward flexible, high-quality food programs that can adapt to changing tenant needs.
