Workplace trends shift toward hybrid models and office rehabilitation

The evolution of hybrid work models is driving a transformation in office design, with a growing emphasis on flexibility, sustainability, technology, and employee well-being. According to a study by JLL, 62% of organizations now require a fixed number of days in the office, an increase from 49% in 2025 and 28% in 2022. Conversely, fully flexible models have decreased from 40% in 2022 to 14% in 2026.

This shift is leading to the rehabilitation of existing workspaces to better support collaboration. Trends identified by GesConsult include the replacement of fixed workstations with multifunctional, shared areas such as informal work zones, meeting rooms, and individual concentration spaces. Nuno Garcia, Director-General of GesConsult, notes that market evolution is prioritizing environments that place sustainability, efficiency, and employee well-being at the center of decision-making.
