Workplace trends shift toward strategic office use and flexible staffing

Recent reports highlight shifting dynamics in the modern workplace, focusing on both physical office environments and employment models. According to Castellum, the role of the office is evolving from a mere workspace into a strategic tool for culture, innovation, and collaboration. A trend report indicates that 91 percent of respondents view the office as vital for a positive company culture, a significant increase from previous years, even as hybrid work models change how space is utilized.

Simultaneously, concerns are rising regarding employment stability in the retail sector. Observations suggest that major brands such as H&M, Lidl, Jysk, and Hemtex rely heavily on part-time staffing. There is growing scrutiny over the emergence of “on-call” or “need-based” employment, where workers are expected to remain available on standby to fulfill fluctuating labor requirements, potentially leading to unpredictable schedules and reduced job security.
