Workplace well-being: Report finds policy gaps as Haryana introduces yoga breaks
A new report by Genius HRTech and DigiPoll reveals a significant gap between formal workplace well-being policies and their actual implementation. Based on a survey of 1,884 employees across sectors such as IT, manufacturing, and finance, the study found that 42 per cent of workers feel their employers fail to effectively execute existing well-being policies. Key stressors identified include an ‘always-on’ work culture, with 42 per cent of respondents citing constant availability demands as a primary source of stress, followed by unrealistic deadlines at 21 per cent.
In response to wellness needs, the Haryana government has introduced a voluntary five-minute daily yoga break, known as ‘Y-Break’, for all industrial units in the state. Following a budget announcement by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the AYUSH Department is coordinating with the Industries and Commerce Department to implement sessions involving yogasanas, pranayama, and meditation. To ensure sustainability, the initiative aims to train at least one employee for every 50 workers to lead these sessions within a month, ensuring coverage even for units operating in shifts.
