Workplace Wellbeing Frameworks Target Australian and New Zealand Employers

Guidance issued by the Workplace Mental Health Institute and featured in Management Magazine NZ outlines a practical five‑part framework for improving workplace wellbeing. The framework stresses that responsibility for psychological safety must sit with senior leaders, incorporates clear governance, regular measurement of leading and lagging indicators, and a 90‑day implementation plan. It aims to address psychosocial hazards such as chronic overload, unclear roles, bullying and unrealistic deadlines, thereby reducing absenteeism, turnover, conflicts and compensation claims.

Both Australian and New Zealand employers are urged to move wellbeing from an optional HR programme to an operational discipline that supports business outcomes. The NZ digital issue highlights additional pressures from a tough economy, leaner teams and cost‑of‑living stress, urging leaders to embed mental‑health literacy and supportive practices throughout their organisations.
