World Aquatics announces 2027 swimming competition schedule
The 2027 swimming season will feature several major international and national competitions. The World Aquatics open water swimming World Cup is set to begin in Cancún, Mexico, followed by stages in Egypt, Golfo Aranci, Italy, and Setúbal, Portugal. The season finale in Setúbal will take place five weeks before the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Top performers in the 10km events will earn qualification spots for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
In pool swimming, the 2027 Swimming World Cup will hold stages in Berlin, Paris, and London. These events will serve as direct qualifiers for the newly introduced 50-meter sprint disciplines at the World Championships, offering athletes a chance to secure early tickets for the 2028 Olympics.
Domestically, the German Swimming Federation (DSV) has scheduled 5km pool races for February 2027. These races, held in Düsseldorf, Lübeck, Magdeburg, and München, will be officially recognized as German Championships, serving as a platform for athletes to demonstrate their potential for international season highlights.
