World Athletics ratifies three new world records

World Athletics has officially ratified three new world records set during the 2026 season:

Jacob Kiplimo (Uganda) set a new men’s half marathon record of 57:20 at the EDP Lisbon Half Marathon on March 8. Although his time improved upon the previous record, it has already been surpassed by Yomif Kejelcha’s 56:51 in Buenos Aires, which is currently awaiting ratification.

Ja’Kobe Tharp (USA) broke a long-standing record in the men’s 110m hurdles, clocking 12.75 at the NCAA Championships in Eugene on June 10. This performance improved upon the previous record of 12.80 set by Aries Merritt in 2012.

Emmanuel Wanyonyi (Kenya) established a new men’s 1000m world record of 2:11.83 at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Monaco on July 10. This mark represents the first time the record has been broken in nearly 27 years.
