World Athletics to livestream Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon

World Athletics has announced it will livestream the fifth edition of the Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon, scheduled for August 22, 2026, in Kasese. This marks the first time a race in Uganda will be featured live on the global governing body’s official YouTube channel.

Organizers intend for the broadcast to showcase the region’s scenic beauty and tourism potential to a global audience. The marathon joins an elite group of international road races previously livestreamed by World Athletics, such as the Sydney, Toronto, Valencia, and Cape Town marathons.

Team lead Amos Wekesa noted that the livestream recognizes the event's progress, while Uganda Breweries Limited brand manager Sandra Againe highlighted the marathon's emergence as an internationally recognized event. Organizers are targeting 8,000 participants for the 2026 edition, with runners from over 20 countries already expected.
