World Bank Group mobilizes record $112 billion in private capital for FY26

The World Bank Group has mobilized a record $112 billion in private capital during fiscal year 2026, more than tripling the $35 billion recorded in FY22. When combined with the Group’s own financing, total funding for developing economies exceeded $200 billion.

The growth was broad-based across different income levels. Private capital mobilization in lower-middle-income countries rose from $14 billion to $37 billion, while upper-middle-income countries saw an increase from $12 billion to $50 billion. In low-income countries, mobilization remained steady at approximately $3 billion. In Africa, private capital mobilization grew from roughly $9 billion to $22 billion, a nearly 150 percent increase.

Additionally, the Group issued over $25 billion in guarantees in FY26, surpassing its annual target of $20 billion set for 2030 four years ahead of schedule. These results follow three years of internal reforms aimed at simplifying processes and improving collaboration between the institution’s public and private sector arms.
