World Bank launches impact assessment of Kenya’s Hustler Fund

The World Bank, through the International Finance Corporation (IFC), has launched an impact assessment of Kenya’s Hustler Fund. The probe aims to evaluate how the multi-billion shilling credit programme has assisted citizens, examining both quantitative and qualitative data regarding how beneficiaries use loans and manage savings.

Cooperatives Principal Secretary Susan Mang’eni stated that the assessment is currently underway, with a final report expected by the end of 2026. This follows a 2023 pledge by the World Bank to support the government-backed initiative designed to empower vulnerable Kenyans.

The Kenyan government reports that the Hustler Fund has reached approximately 28 million people since its inception, with nearly 10 million regular borrowers.
