World Bank launches new partnership frameworks for Burkina Faso and Guinea

The World Bank has launched new Country Partnership Frameworks (CPF) for Burkina Faso and Guinea to drive regional development.

In Burkina Faso, the 2026–2031 framework focuses on job creation, health, education, electricity access, and agricultural productivity. This initiative aligns with the nation’s ‘Relance’ 2026–2030 national development plan. Recent achievements under previous partnerships include increasing electricity access from 3.4 million to over 28 million people and reintegrating 430,000 displaced students into the school system. The World Bank’s current portfolio in Burkina Faso stands at $4 billion across 29 active projects.

In Guinea, a new partnership covering 2027–2033 will focus on boosting human capital, developing infrastructure, and promoting private investment. The framework was announced during a visit by Ousmane Diagana, the World Bank Vice President for West and Central Africa, who met with government officials and civil society representatives to discuss agriculture, energy, and governance.
