World Bank removes Zimbabwe from fragile economies list
Zimbabwe’s Minister of Finance, Mthuli Ncube, announced that the World Bank has officially removed Zimbabwe from its list of Fragile and Conflict-Affected Economies. Mr. Ncube stated that the decision serves as a “direct validation of the country’s ongoing economic turnaround, governance and institutional reforms.”
According to the Finance Minister, Zimbabwe’s GDP grew by 8.3% in 2025, while ZiG inflation decreased by 2.9%. The announcement comes amid recent domestic tragedies, including the Kariba Ferry disaster which claimed 97 lives and a bus crash in Chivhu that resulted in 27 deaths.
