World Bank reports modest growth for Latin America and the Caribbean
The World Bank’s October 2026 report on Latin America and the Caribbean describes regional economic growth as modest. While current growth reflects political stability, the institution notes it has not yet reached its maximum potential.
To achieve more sustained growth, the report suggests that countries must adopt productive reforms and well-designed industrial policies. The World Bank highlights artificial intelligence (AI) as a potential catalyst for productivity, though it cautions that “digital access does not guarantee productive use, and algorithms do not automatically generate aggregate productivity.”
Successful outcomes are currently being seen in nations that implement durable policy decisions, leading to increased investment and market confidence. The report emphasizes that the region needs new drivers of productivity to leverage the global technological transition.
