World Blood Donor Day drives campaigns in Serbia and Croatia
June 14 marks World Blood Donor Day, an annual event encouraging voluntary blood donation worldwide. In Belgrade, Serbia, the Institute for Blood Transfusion invites healthy citizens to donate between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., with additional mobile units operating in New Belgrade and at the Port Pizza festival in Luka Beograd.
In Zagreb, Croatia, the Croatian Red Cross (HCK) holds a donation session on Friday at 1 p.m. at Crveni križ 14. The organization stresses that a single donation can save up to three lives and calls on people aged 18‑65 weighing over 55 kg to give blood after a medical assessment. Both campaigns aim to raise awareness of the critical, everyday need for safe blood supplies.
