World Blood Donor Day drives honor donors in India and the Bahamas

On World Blood Donor Day, officials in Jeypore, India, gathered at the District Headquarters Hospital to recognise voluntary donors. The Sub‑Collector, the Chief District Medical Officer and other dignitaries honoured Tulasi Das Nayak – a long‑time donor from Kotpad – and encouraged young people to donate blood regularly.

In Grand Bahama, Bahamas, the Public Hospitals Authority partnered with Grand Bahama Health Services and the Blood Donors Society to hold a blood‑drive at Rand Memorial Hospital. Police officers and community members donated blood, while senior technologists warned that each unit expires within about 35 days, underscoring the need for continual donations.

Both events highlighted the ongoing importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives and called for increased community participation.
