World Car Free Day promotes sustainable mobility through global events

World Car Free Day, observed on September 22, encourages individuals to utilize alternatives to personal vehicles, such as walking, cycling, or public transit, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve urban mobility.

In Florianópolis, Brazil, the Executive Secretariat of Mobility Operations is partnering with micromobility companies to host free activities at Parque de Coqueiros and Beira-Mar Norte. The program includes traffic safety education, bicycle maintenance, and scooter riding lessons.

In Toronto, Canada, the collective Femmes & Friends is organizing the 3rd Annual World Car Free Day bike ride and picnic. The event features a 15 km guided route through the city to highlight car-free spaces and connected transit lanes.
