World Central Kitchen finds drugs hidden in Gaza aid shipment
World Central Kitchen (WCK) reported finding narcotics hidden within a shipment of humanitarian aid destined for the Gaza Strip. According to Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), workers discovered approximately 600 grams of hashish and 160 grams of other illegal substances concealed inside cans of peppers.
COGAT stated that WCK responsibly reported the smuggling attempt and accused Hamas of exploiting humanitarian aid mechanisms to smuggle prohibited items. The Israeli military unit condemned the incident, stating that such tactics jeopardize vital aid operations.
This discovery follows a COGAT report claiming that the volume of food entering Gaza significantly exceeds United Nations estimates. The report noted that food entry into the territory has been nearly threefold the requirements defined by the World Food Program.
