World Children's Day celebrations scheduled across Germany
World Children's Day, observed annually on September 20 in Germany, focuses on promoting children's rights and child protection. While it is an official public holiday in Thuringia, it remains a regular day in other federal states.
Various regional celebrations are scheduled to mark the occasion. In Bernburg, the Stiftung Evangelische Jugendhilfe is hosting a festival centered on the theme of humanity and children's rights. In the Heidekreis district, the 20th annual festival at Jugendhof Idingen will feature activities such as a climbing wall and creative workshops. Additionally, Landau will host a community play festival at Danziger Platz involving local organizations and emergency services.
According to UNICEF Deutschland, the day aims to encourage politicians to consider the interests of young people in decision-making processes and to provide better perspectives for disadvantaged children.
