World Choir Games: Student choirs from Taipei and Hong Kong win top honors
The 14th World Choir Games held in Helsingborg, Sweden, saw significant achievements from Asian student choirs. Sanyu Elementary School from Taipei, Taiwan, secured a gold award at the competition. Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an met with the students and teachers to commend their dedication and musical skill, noting that the choir performed songs in four different languages, including English, Hungarian, Minnan, and Japanese.
Representing Hong Kong, the choir from St. Paul's Co-educational College won two championships in the ‘A Cappella Sacred Music’ and ‘Contemporary Music’ categories. The group, consisting of 60 students, performed original works composed by alumni. The school noted that the students maintained strict discipline regarding their diet and hygiene to ensure peak performance during the international event.
