World Cleanup Day 2026 mobilizes volunteers across Vietnam

World Cleanup Day 2026 has been launched across Vietnam, with activities spanning more than 20 provinces and cities. Organized by Let’s Do It Vietnam, the campaign expects to engage over 10,000 volunteers nationwide to address environmental issues, specifically focusing on plastic waste, packaging, and single-use products.

In Hanoi, a major event saw over 550 volunteers collect 1.7 tons of waste at the Me Tri Ha underground parking park area. Participants were instructed on safety and waste sorting, with a focus on separating recyclable materials. The campaign emphasizes that collection is only one part of the solution; the primary goal is to encourage behavioral changes such as sorting waste at the source and reducing plastic use.

Siisi Saetalu, the Chargé d'Affaires of Estonia to Vietnam, attended the Hanoi event, noting that the movement is about individuals taking responsibility for their living environments to inspire collective action. The Let’s Do It! movement, which originated in Estonia in 2008, has since grown into a global environmental initiative. Other participating cities in Vietnam include Hai Phong, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Quang Tri, Binh Thuan, Ho Chi Minh City, and Can Tho.
