World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya crowns Hong Kong duo as champions

The World Cosplay Summit, the premier international cosplay competition, concluded in Nagoya, Japan. Participants from more than 40 countries gathered for three days of performances, with judging criteria now incorporating technical innovations such as 3D‑printed props and integrated electronics.

Representing Hong Kong, cosplayers Ar Lu and Ronnie won the overall championship, marking the first time a Hong Kong team reached the top three and secured the title. Their act was based on the video‑game series *Monster Hunter*, with Ronnie portraying a Rathalos hunter and Ar Lu playing the hunter’s companion, the “Eru‑cat.” Their performance earned unanimous praise from judges and the audience, and Ar Lu shouted “Ah ma I got it!” on stage in Cantonese.

The 2026 edition of the summit has already been confirmed for Nagoya, underscoring the event’s role in promoting Japanese pop‑culture abroad and fostering cross‑border creative collaboration.
