Spain defeats France 2-0 to reach World Cup 2026 final

In the World Cup 2026 semi‑final in Arlington, Texas, Spain beat France 2-0, with Mikel Oyarzabal converting a penalty in the 22nd minute and Pedro Porro scoring in the 58th. The victory sends La Roja to the tournament final for the first time since 2010.

French captain Kylian Mbappé admitted the team fell short, saying, “We were not at the level of a World Cup semi‑final… there were too many errors.” Coach Didier Deschamps’ side could not impose their plan against a “faithful” Spanish side.

Spain’s coach Luis de la Fuente called his players “the best team in the world,” praising their values and tactical execution. He also warned that the squad must not be complacent, stating, “We have not won anything yet; the goal is still the World Cup trophy.” The Spanish camp stressed focus on the upcoming final against the winner of Argentina‑England.
