World Cup fan costs soar in US with pricey drinks and replica shirts
Fans attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States are facing high prices for both beverages and official merchandise. At Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, a standard pint of beer was reported at £12.50, while premium large beers reached £13.50 and hard seltzers cost more than £15. Additional items such as ultra‑premium cocktails were priced up to £21.36.
Replica jerseys are also unusually expensive. Nike’s adult stadium shirts for England, France and Brazil average €110 (£95), with match‑day versions up to €160. Across all teams the average stadium shirt price has risen 53% since the 2010 World Cup, reaching €100 today. Analysts estimate 18‑23 million shirts will be sold, generating roughly 80% of sales for Nike, Adidas and Puma. The price surge has prompted concerns about exploitation and increased demand for counterfeit kits, which market data suggest could represent 30‑40% of circulation.
