World Cup of Stations 2026 begins public voting for UK finalists

Public voting has commenced for the World Cup of Stations 2026, an initiative by the Rail Delivery Group to recognize stations that create meaningful connections for their communities. Following more than 150 nominations, 20 stations across Britain have been shortlisted for the competition.

In the Anglia, East Coast, and East Midlands division, contenders include Laindon, Basildon, Berney Arms, and Leeds City. Laindon is noted for connecting urban areas with nature, while Basildon is recognized for community artwork. Berney Arms, a remote station accessible only by rail, boat, foot, or bicycle, was highlighted for its role in opening Norfolk’s marshes to explorers.

In the Wales and West area, Crediton Railway Station is among the finalists. The station is recognized for hosting a community café and an inclusive music and arts space through The Turning Tides Project, which supports individuals with learning disabilities and autism. Other shortlisted stations in this region include Par, Yatton, and Haverfordwest.

Regional winners will progress to a final stage on October 14, with the ultimate Station of the Year winner to be announced on October 20.
