World Cycling Sustainable Events expands to Japan and USA
The World Cycling Sustainable Events (WCSE) network has expanded to include two new international cycling events: Cycling Shimanami in Japan and El Tour de Tucson in the United States. Announced at Palazzo Balbi in Venice, this expansion grows the network to six major global events across four continents.
In addition to the new members, the WCSE includes the Prosecco Cycling in Italy, the TD Five Boro Bike Tour in New York, the Cape Town Cycle Tour in South Africa, and the RBC GranFondo Whistler in Canada. The network, which originated in 2021 within the UNESCO Prosecco Hills, aims to promote cycling as a symbol of green mobility through shared sustainability guidelines. These include energy savings, low-emission logistics, advanced recycling, and digital processes to reduce paper use.
The Prosecco Cycling event itself is preparing for its 2026 edition, featuring a 100 km course through 15 municipalities of the DOCG area. The upcoming 23rd edition features approximately 2,500 cyclists from 28 different nations.
