World Economic Forum forecasts major job shifts as AI and automation reshape employment

The World Economic Forum’s 2025 Future of Jobs report projects the creation of about 170 million new jobs worldwide by 2030, while 92 million roles are expected to be transformed or disappear, resulting in a net increase of roughly 78 million positions. Growth is projected especially in sectors that fulfil basic societal needs – health care, education, agriculture, construction and skilled trades – where human interaction, empathy and on‑site problem‑solving remain essential.

Experts also warn that automation will drastically affect many white‑collar occupations. One analyst predicts that 700 occupations could vanish by 2030, with roughly 63 % of existing jobs vulnerable to automation. In transport, the rise of autonomous vehicles may render millions of drivers redundant; U.S. data suggest about 4.6 million people work as taxi, truck or bus drivers, all of whom could face job loss as driverless technology matures.
