World Economic Forum lists jobs unlikely to be automated by AI

The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report identifies a set of occupations that are expected to remain largely resistant to automation and artificial‑intelligence displacement. Roles that rely heavily on empathy, personal relationships and on‑site problem‑solving – such as psychologists, therapists, social‑service workers, child‑development specialists, teachers and university academics – are highlighted as continuing to need a human touch.

Technical trades that involve field experience and rapid physical judgment, including plumbers, electricians, maintenance‑technicians and other service engineers, are also cited as difficult to fully automate. In the commercial sphere, positions that depend on creative strategy and brand stewardship – brand managers, strategy consultants, creative directors, crisis‑communication specialists and corporate‑communications officers – are likewise expected to retain a strong human component.

Analysts from McKinsey, Microsoft and other firms echo the report’s findings, noting that while AI will transform many aspects of work, the core human skills of empathy, creativity and on‑site expertise will keep these professions viable for the foreseeable future.
