World Economic Forum report projects major labor market shifts by 2030
The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025 indicates significant structural transformations in the global labor market driven by artificial intelligence and automation. By 2030, approximately 39% of core worker skills are expected to be redefined, a shift comparable to the Industrial Revolution.
The report projects that while 92 million jobs may be displaced, 170 million new roles could be created, resulting in a net gain of 78 million positions. However, the distribution of these opportunities will be uneven across sectors and regions.
Administrative and operational roles, such as cashiers, typists, bank clerks, and administrative assistants, face the highest risk of reduction as tasks transition to digital systems and intelligent programs. Conversely, demand is rising for technical and analytical skills, including machine learning algorithm development, big data interpretation, digital project management, and advanced digital literacy.
A significant recruitment gap exists as many positions requiring AI and data analysis expertise remain unfilled. This shortage is attributed to academic curricula lagging behind technological innovation and a lack of robust public policies for continuous professional training.
