Dalian Hosts Summer Davos 2026 Focused on Innovation and AI

From June 23‑25, 2026, Dalian, China, hosted the 17th Annual Meeting of the New Champions – the World Economic Forum’s Summer Davos. More than 1,700 delegates from over 90 countries and regions gathered under the theme “Innovation at Scale.”

The agenda covered a wide range of topics. Panels examined how artificial intelligence can reshape jobs, industry and society, with speakers stressing the need to move AI from pilots to large‑scale deployments. Discussions also addressed the internationalisation of the Chinese yuan, cross‑border payment systems and the role of Shanghai and Hong Kong in expanding financial market openness.

Hong Kong’s Financial Secretary, Chan Mo‑Po, met Chinese and local officials, promoting deeper finance‑tech cooperation between Hong Kong and Liaoning and highlighting talent‑attraction programmes. Yidu Tech’s founder Gong Yingying presented its AI‑driven data‑infrastructure platform, arguing that a high‑quality evidence layer is essential for faster drug development and better access to innovative medicines.

The event showcased Dalian’s transformation from a traditional industrial hub to a regional centre for science, technology and advanced manufacturing, with demonstrations of hydrogen‑powered technologies, industrial software and low‑carbon transport. The city’s preparations included upgraded 5G‑A networks, expanded conference‑venue services and a fleet of new‑energy vehicles.

Overall, the gathering positioned Dalian as a showcase for China’s push toward high‑value, sustainable growth and highlighted global collaboration on innovation, AI and financial integration.
