At the 79th session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Algeria’s health minister Mohamed Seddik Aït Messoudène and Chinese officials deepened a strategic partnership on health cooperation, signalling expanded bilateral projects and joint research.

The same meeting saw the World Health Organization honour Senegal, alongside 16 other nations, for successfully eliminating several targeted diseases, including trachoma, leprosy and mother‑to‑child transmission of HIV.

Both developments were announced on the sidelines of the assembly, underscoring the role of multilateral forums in advancing disease‑control achievements and new international health collaborations.
