World Health Organization reports low global influenza and SARS-CoV-2 activity

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that during week 31 of 2026, global influenza positivity remained below 10 percent. While overall activity is low, there have been increases in certain regions. Specifically, positivity rates exceeded 10 percent in parts of South America, East and Southern Africa, and Oceania. In some tropical South American and East African countries, positivity rates surpassed 30 percent.

SARS-CoV-2 activity has remained stable and low in most reporting countries. However, positivity rates above 10 percent were noted in parts of Central America, the Caribbean, tropical South America, and certain areas of Northern Europe and Western Asia. Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) activity also remained low globally.
