World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships held in Santa Fe
The 2026 World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships took place in Santa Fe, Argentina, featuring various distance and knockout sprint events. The competition utilized specialized electronic touchpads mounted on floating pontoons, which require between 1.5 and 2.5 kg of pressure to register a finish, working in conjunction with wrist transponders worn by athletes.
The Chilean national junior delegation participated in several categories, including the 7.5k, 10k, and 3k Knockout Sprint. Ricardo Gutiérrez achieved the team's highest placement, finishing 24th in the men's 10k. In the men's 7.5k, Diego Moncada placed 39th, narrowly ahead of teammate Gaspar Henríquez in 40th. Eloísa Godoy represented Chile in the women's 7.5k, finishing 34th, and also competed in the 3k Knockout Sprint, placing 40th overall.
