World launches identity suite for banks and Zoom integration

World, the digital identity project co-founded by Sam Altman, has launched ‘World ID for banking and finance’ to combat AI-driven impersonation and deepfake fraud. The new suite is designed to help financial institutions verify that transactions and communications are conducted by real, authorized humans rather than AI bots or deepfakes.

The suite includes three primary components: the World ID app for managing identity credentials, AgentKit to allow users to delegate proofs to AI agents, and World ID for Zoom. The Zoom integration, now generally available via the Zoom App Marketplace for enterprise accounts, uses a three-way cryptographic match between an Orb enrollment image, a live smartphone selfie, and a video frame from the call to display a ‘Verified Human’ badge.

Major financial institutions, including Bain Capital, OpenExchange, Outtake, Pantera Capital, and VanEck Funds, are serving as initial design partners to explore the technology’s application in high-value transfers and account recovery. The rollout comes amid rising concerns regarding AI fraud, with estimates suggesting AI-related scams in the US could reach $40 billion by 2027.
