World Liberty Financial delays Maldives resort token sale

World Liberty Financial and its partners have postponed the sale of the MALD1 token, a project intended to tokenize loan revenue from the Trump International Hotel and Resort in the Maldives. The delay follows disruptions caused by the Iran conflict, which impacted air corridors and led to a decline in Maldives tourism arrivals of up to 41% in early March.

The project is a collaboration involving London-listed developer Dar Global and BlackRock-backed Securitize. It was designed to offer accredited investors a fixed yield and a share of loan revenue from the 100-villa development, which has a target completion date of 2030. While World Liberty Financial has previously raised $550 million through governance token sales, its primary token has seen a significant decline in value, dropping approximately 83% from its September 2025 peak.

Dar Global CEO Ziad El Chaar stated that the company is reviewing development and launch schedules in accordance with market conditions and strategic goals, though no new launch date for the token has been established.
