World Masters Athletics Championships feature historic veteran performances

The World Masters Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea, have highlighted exceptional performances from veteran athletes. Mongolian athlete Radnaa Tseren, aged 92, won the gold medal in the M90 category 100-meter sprint with a time of 18.29 seconds. He finished ahead of Algeria’s Abdelkader Benguella, who took silver with 18.99 seconds, and Japan’s Ikuya Motoshige, who earned bronze with 19.77 seconds.

In the M45 category, Alejandro Aguilar secured a silver medal in the decathlon. Representing Uruguay, Aguilar achieved a total of 5,600 points after a strong second-day performance, finishing behind a Spanish competitor. Aguilar’s achievement is noted for being accomplished despite limited training resources in Rosario.

The Uruguayan delegation also saw success with Mónica Falcioni winning silver in long jump and bronze in triple jump, Sabrina Osuna taking silver in the 2,000-meter steeplechase, and Ana Giuffra earning silver in the 800-meter run.
