World Meat Championship concludes in Buenos Aires
The second edition of the World Meat Championship (CMDC®) concluded at the El Central restaurant in La Rural, Buenos Aires. The competition featured beef samples from ten countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Panama, Mexico, Spain, England, and Ireland.
A panel of 1,000 judges, comprising chefs, meat sommeliers, and technical experts, evaluated ribeye (bife ancho) and strip steak (bife angosto) cuts based on grass-fed and grain-fed feeding systems. The evaluation focused on technical parameters such as tenderness, juiciness, and flavor.
Gold medals were split between Argentina and Uruguay. In the grain-fed category, Uruguay’s Frigorífico Las Piedras won for ribeye, while Argentina’s Urien Loza from Estancia Don Beto won for strip steak. In the grass-fed category, Argentina’s Elisabel Restaurante Las Lilas took gold for ribeye, and Uruguay’s Frigorífico Las Piedras secured gold for strip steak.
